Are your kids bored in the car? Then make them a Car Activity Box for them.
Car Activity Boxes:
- Set up a box for each kid. Try to get to different colored lids for each kid or write their names on the lids.
- Buy a plastic box that can be left in the car for supplies, books and toys.
- I used a plastic filing box with an easy off lid.
- I put the following in the box:
- Crayons
- Ruler
- Eraser
- Notebook
- Pencil and pencil sharpener that keeps all the shavings inside a holder.
- Pencil holder to hold loose items like pencils, crayons, sharpener, dry erase markers.
- Coloring Books or printable coloring pages
- Reading Books
- Drawing Pad
- Printed out activities like connect the dots, word searches, etc. can put them into a small 3-ring binder. (Look at end of posting for great website.)
- Compass
- Kid's Map
- Small toys from fast food places ( I put these in small ziploc bags to keep them together.)
- Travel games
- Activity travel tray
- Dry Erase Markers and Eraser
- Ziploc bag filled with magnetic alphabet letters to use with activity travel tray.
- I also put a small backpack together filled with things like gummies, snacks(can put in small snack bags), juice boxes, extra clothes(in big Ziplock bag), bandages, wipes, handheld video games like leapster or v-tech(don't want to leave these in the car because of the heat or cold). It comes in handy from time to time and I make sure I bring it in everyday.
Make sure to place new items in their box from time to time. Kids will be tired of the same stuff all the time. A great place for inexpensive items is at the Dollar Tree or the $1 section at Target.
Also make sure the kids know that their activity box always stays in the car.
