• Two CDs for Each Child (AOL Free CDs work great), Glue, Cup Lid or Milk Cap, Construction Paper, Paint

Smore's Pudding

Carmel Popcorn Balls

S'mores Pudding:

• 3/4 cup sugar
• 6 Tbsp. Cornstarch
• 1/2 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1/2 tsp. Salt
• 5 Cups Whole Milk
• 4 Large Egg Yolks
• 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
• 6 oz. Semisweet Chocolate, Chopped
• 6 Whole Graham Crackers
• 30 Miniature Marshmallows

1. In a medium bowl, combine sugar, cornstarch, cocoa powder and salt.  Whisk in 1/2 cup milk and egg yolks until blended and smooth.
2.  Pour remaining milk into a large saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat.   Whisking vigorously and constantly, pour about 2 cups hot milk into sugar mixture until blended. Pour mixture back into saucepan with remaining milk, whisking well.
3. Reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring constantly, until smooth and thickened, about 2 minutes.  Remove from heat and whisk in vanilla and 1/2 of chocolate.  Stir until chocolate has melted.  Divide pudding among 6 1-cup ramekins or custard cups.  Place remaining chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and heat on high for about 30 seconds, stirring every 10 seconds, until melted.
4. Place graham crackers in a ziplock bag; seal bag. Use a rolling pin to crush into crumbs.  Sprinkle top of each pudding with graham crackers and 5 miniature marshmallows.  Drizzle with melted chocolate and serve.
5. If you prefer your pudding cold, cover with plastic wrap so that it touches the entire surface and refrigerate for about 3 hours.

Carmel Popcorn Balls:

• 16 cups plain popped popcorn (do not use butter popcorn)
• 1 package (14 ounces) caramels
• 1/4t cup (1/2 stick) Butter
• Pinch of Salt
• 1 2/3 cups shredded coconut
• 1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
• 10 to 12 lollipop sticks
• Halloween Sprinkles and Decorations
• Waxed Paper

1. Place popcorn in large bowl.
2. Place caramels and butter in medium saucepan over low heat.  Cook and stir until caramels and butter are melted and smooth, about 5 minutes.  Stir in salt and coconut.  Remove caramel mixture from heat; pour over popcorn.  With large wooden spoon, mix until popcorn is evenly coated.  Let cool slightly.
3. Place chocolate chips in microwaveable bowl.  Microwave on HIGH 1 minute; stir.  Microwave on HIGH for additional 30-second intervals until chips are completely melted, stirring after each 30-second interval.  Stir until smooth.
4. When popcorn mixture is cool enough to handle, grease hands with butter or nonstick cooking spray.  Shape popcorn mixture into baseball-sized balls; place 1 lollipop stick in each ball.  Dip bottoms of each popcorn ball into melted chocolate and roll in Halloween decorations, if desired.  Place on waxed paper until chocolate is set. 
5. Makes 10-12 balls.

Don't Worry!

It was around Christmas time and my sister, Jaycie(age 11) and I (age 16)were down at my parent's church. They get things donated to them around christmas time, so they can be handed out to children.  We were sorting through the toys into different age groups.  We were having fun playing with all the toys and making sure they all worked.

Well, my sister, Jaycie came up to me and said let me try these out on your wrists.  They were a pair of handcuffs. I asked her if she had the keys for it and she said don't worry I know how to get them off.  I said okay and she placed them onto me and closed the cuffs.  I walked around with them pretending I was being arrested and after a while I wanted them off.

I asked Jaycie to please take them off, and she said okay.  I asked where the keys where and she said I don't need keys, watch, and she pushed the rings down.  She said that is strange, it worked when your wrists weren't in there.  She then realized that this was not going to work.  They only opened the way she thought, if your hands weren't in it.

So, here I was stuck in these tight handcuffs, thanks to Jaycie. There were no keys!  I had to go to my parents and tell them that Jaycie got these handcuffs stuck to my wrists. Jaycie was laughing her head of at me.  They had to use a screwdriver to open them up.  Jaycie was always doing funny things like this to me while going up.  And after all these funny things, I still love my little sister.

Thirsty For Knowledge Thursday!

Thursdays will add an additional educational learning to the end of each week.

• Supplies Needed: Index Cards; 2 Duplicate Pictures Of Items 13 and 14; 3 8 x 10 Cardboard Pieces; Foam Book, 2 duplicate Pictures Of Items 13 and 14; Cardboard, Marker, Yarn, Plastic Needle; Blank white paper, Markers, Stickers; 14 Toys; Foam Sheets(Red, Two Other Colors), Brad, Foam Numbers; Foam Sheet, Card Stock, Yarn; 2 Discarded compact discs(CD's), 4 twist ties, glue, 2 wiggle eyes, hole reinforcement, sheet of sticky circles; Small plastic jar with lid, 4 gogglie eyes, 3 pop bottle caps, button, glue; Package of brightly colored Post-it small page markers, shape punch(like Star), glue; 4 Old wire hangers, open grassy area, pen, 4 pieces of paper, flat plastic can lid(such as a coffee can lid)

Foam Number Books:

1. This week add the numbers 13 and 14 to your number books.
2. Remember to write 13 on the first page, 14 on the second page, thirteen on the third page, and fourteen on the fourth page and repeat with the rest of the pages.

Picture Books:

1. On the thirteenth  put the following on top in the middle of the page 13(make sure its big enough)
2. Then a little bit below the number 13 put the spelling of the number 13 (Thirteen).
3. Then directly below the word one put a picture of any Thirteen items like apples, oranges, or bananas (make sure it is thirteen items).
4. What is really neat to use for all this is foam letters, letters and pictures.
5. On the fourteenth  page do what you did with the thirteenth page except use the number 14, the word fourteen and a picture of 14 items like 14 suns, 14 shoes, or 14 stars.

Index Cards:

• Place the number 13 on a card, word thirteen on a card, a picture of thirteen items
• Also write the number 14 on card, word fourteen on a card, and a picture of fourteen items.
• Add these cards with the your other index word cards.
• Remember to add the numbers and words to your key chain card holder
• Remember to keep on teaching  your kid's math.  Here's an example: Write on a card 7+ 6=13 on the other side have a picture of thirteen items. And the number thirteen written out.  Try not to go above = 14. Keep it real simple.

Number Sewing:

• Don't forget you can have your child sew the numbers 13 and 14. 

Memory Game:

• You and your child can now play their memory game with the numbers 13 and 14.

Math:

• Remember to do more math with your child

Yarn Math Art:

• Supplies Needed: Construction Paper, Yarn, Glue and Scissors : Have your child make numbers from pieces of cut up yarn.

Sticker Counting:

1. On a blank piece of paper place circle dots across the page in a crazy line if you want.  
2. If you put eight dots on the paper, you can write one on the first dot, then skip a two dots(these are for the numbers 2 and 3) then write 4 on a dot, skip a dot(for 5) and write 6 and leave the last two blank(7 and 8).
3. Have your child write in the missing numbers and then have them connect the dots.

Clock:

• Supplies Needed: Foam Sheets(Red, Two Other Colors), Brad, Foam Numbers

1. Cut out a small circle and a big circle.
2. Cut out a small red arrow and a big red arrow for the hands of the clock.
3. Glue the small circle on top of the big circle, make sure to center it, in the middle.
4. Then place the hands on the clock and fasten it with a brad, so that the hands can still move around
5. Place the numbers 1-12 onto the big circle of the clock. 
6. Your child can even draw two eyes and a mouth.  The nose would be the brad.
7. Now quiz your children about the time.  Ask them to try to make it 12:00.  I would try to stick with the easy stuff at first.  Unless your children can count and recognize numbers up to 60. I would try 12:00, 12:15, 12:30, 12:45. If you would like.  
8. I bought my daughter a digital my littlest pet shop watch for her to help her with telling time.  I bought her a character she was interested in.  

Clock Book:

• Supplies Needed: Foam Sheet, Card Stock, Yarn, 

1. Make a book like your child's first book.
2. On the first page its going to be 12:00.  At the top of the page right 12:00.  Then in the middle right twelve o'clock.  Then on the bottom draw a picture of a clock and have it pointing to the 12.
3. Do this for all the numbers. 
4. Explain to your child that there is an a.m. and p.m. 12:00 and so forth.

Circle Friend:

• Supplies Needed: 2 Discarded compact discs(CD's), 4 twist ties, glue, 2 wiggle eyes, hole reinforcement, sheet of sticky circles

1. Cover the print side of one CD with glue.
2. Put the ends of a twist tie in the glue on each side of the CD to stick out to form arms.  Put the end of two more twist ties in the glue at the bottom of the CD to hang down to form the legs of the puppet.
3. Place the second CD, print side down, over the first, to become the front of the puppet.
4. Glue the two wiggle eyes to the front CD just above the hole.  Stick the hole reinforcement below the hole of the CD for the mouth.  Use some of the sticker circles to make the hair and cheeks.
5. Make hands and feet for the puppet by sticking two circles together over the end of each twist tie.
6. Stick your own finger through the hole in the CD puppet to give the circle friend a funny nose.

Circle Shake Game

• Supplies Needed: Small plastic jar with lid, 4 gogglie eyes, 3 pop bottle caps, button, glue

1. Glue the three bottle caps inside the lid of the jar, top side down.
2. Glue the flat side of two wiggle eyes together so that there is an eye on each side.  Do the same with the second two wiggle eyes.  Let the glue dry.
3. Put the wiggle eyes and the bottom into the lid and screw the jar on over the lid.
4. Try to shake the bottom and the two eyes each into a different cap to look like a face.

Rectangle Jewelry:

• Supplies Needed:Package of brightly colored Post-it small page markers, shape punch(like Star), glue

1. Stick enough colored page markers together to make a long rectangle bracelet that will fit your child's wrist.
2. Carefully unstick each strip and re-stick it with glue.  Glue the two ends together to make a bracelet that will slip over their hand.
3. Use the shape punch to punch shapes from different colored page markers.
4. Decorate the bracelet by gluing on the punched shapes.
5. Use the same idea to make a rectangle ring.

Flying Disk Croquet:

• Supplies Needed: 4 Old wire hangers, open grassy area, pen, 4 pieces of paper, flat plastic can lid(such as a coffee can lid)

1. Take apart the hangers by untwisting the wrapped wire at the neck of the hanger.  Bend each hanger into a U shape (wires are hand to bend-don't worry if your shapes are a bit crooked). Ends should be about 12 inches apart.  Take the hangers outside to a grassy area where you can set up and play the game. The hangers will be the goalposts.
2. Decide where you want the goal-posts to be.  A simple course could be set up like a baseball diamond, with one goalpost in each four corners. 
3. To set up a goalpost, grab a wire hanger by both ends and push the ends deep into the grass.  Make sure the ends are pushed in deep enough so they won't come out easily, but not so deep that there's no room for a disk to fly through the goalpost.  Add more goalposts or put the goalposts farther apart to make the course more challenging.
4. Write one number, from 1 to 4, on each piece of paper.  Place one numbered piece of paper in front of each goalpost.  The numbers on the paper determine which goalpost, the players must get through first, second, and so on.  Now the course is ready for play.
5. Each player lines up about 8 feet behind the first goalpost.  The first player tries to get their disk through the first goalpost by tossing it.  If they miss, the next player's turn begins.  When a player successfully tosses their disk through the first goalpost, they go to the spot where their disk landed, stands on that spot, and tries to toss the disk through the next goalpost.  The player's turn ends when the disk doesn't make it through the goalpost.
6. The first player to toss their disk through every goalpost is the winner.

Wacky Wednesday: Magic Day!

Wacky Wednesdays are a little break in the week, geared away from the weekly theme.  It lets the children have a little added fun. Your kids will love it when you say "Hey, guess what tomorrow is?  It's Wacky Wednesday!" Remember to have fun yourself. 

• Magic Tricks:3 Different Magic Card Tricks at Dollar Tree
• Finger Traps
• Magic Wands:Dowel, Black and Gold(Sprinkle) Paint
• Magicians Outfit: White Gloves, Black Cape and Black Top Hat(Black Construction Paper, Paper Plate, Black Paint, Stars, Gold Glitter Glue): Make a Cone out of black paper, and tape/glue it.  Then paint a plate black, let dry. Cut 3 slits and bend the bottom of the cone, so you can staple it onto the hat.  Decorate the hat with stars and gold glitter glue.
• Rabbit Sandwiches:Rabbit Cookie Cutter, Bread, Meat, Cheese
• Magic Food Wands:Hot Dogs/ Chicken Fingers/ Fish Sticks and French Fries
• Magic Changing Milk: Milk, Something to add to milk like Strawberry syrup, Magic Changing Powder
• Cheetos(change your mouth colors)
• Magic Pretzel Wands: Pretzel Rods and Chocolate and Vanilla Frosting, Sprinkles: Dip rod ends into frosting then into sprinkles.
• Bunny Shaped Chocolates and/or Gummies
• Magic Beans:Different Flavored Jelly Beans

• Bean Soup: Dried Navy Beans or 15 Bean Soup Mix, Chopped Ham(Recipe on Back of Bean Bag) and Cornbread muffin mix.
• Magic Bean Art Work:15 Bean Soup for Art Work, Construction Paper, or Cardboard, Glue 
• Magic Bean Game: Bertie Botts Every Flavor Jelly Beans(found at Kmart, Walgreens): Have your child close their eyes and give them a bean and see if they can figure out the flavor.
• Magic Balloon Trick: Ballons, Tape, Needle: Have a couple balloons blown up for this trick.  Ahead of time put a piece of tape onto the ballon, make sure nobody can see the tape.  Then take a needle into a plain balloon and it will pop.  You can do it one more time or have your child try it out.  Then with the tape ballon, put the needle into the tape and it shouldn't pop.
• Magic Treasure Hunt:Sheets of White Paper, Jelly Beans, Plastic Bag, Black Marker, Mirror, White Crayon, Blue Marker, Empty Shoe Box, Container: On sheets of paper write down clues to where the next clue is.  You can write the clue backwards and you need a mirror to read it, write the clue in a code like 1= A, 2= B, and so on, Write a message on a piece of white paper with a white crayon, they have to use a black marker or crayon to color over the hidden message. In the finish have a prize in a shoe box like a deck of magic cards.
• Magic Art Work: Crayons(Black and Others), White Sheet of Paper, Penny: Have your child color a white piece of paper, cover the whole thing.  Then color over the art work with a black crayon, cover the whole thing.  Then with a penny, have your child scratch off designs.
• Magic Hat Game: Deck of Cards, Black Magic Hat: Place a hat in the middle of the floor. Give your child some cards and have them try to throw the cards into the hat.

• Box Of Crayons Trick: Box of crayons: Have your child pick out a crayon out of the box, with your eyes closed.  Have them hand you the crayon, your eyes still closed, tell them you can tell what the color is by hanging on to it.  Take your nail and try to scrap some of the crayon under your nail.  Then have your child place the crayon back in the box.  When you open your eyes, check your nail for the color your child had.

  8 (4 section) graham crackers
  1 1/4 cups Pillsbury® Creamy Supreme® Vanilla Frosting
  10 drops red food color
  1/4 cup Pillsbury® Creamy Supreme® Chocolate Fudge Frosting
  Directions 
  1. Remove 1 section from each graham cracker; reserve single sections for another use. Frost graham crackers with 1 cup of the vanilla frosting.
  2. Place remaining 1/4 cup vanilla frosting in small resealable plastic bag; seal bag. Add red food color; squeeze bag until well blended. Cut off 1 bottom corner of bag to form small hole. Squeeze bag to pipe frosting onto 4 graham crackers in heart and diamond patterns.
  3. Place chocolate frosting in another small resealable plastic bag; seal bag. Cut off 1 bottom corner of bag to form small hole. Squeeze bag to pipe frosting onto remaining 4 graham crackers in club and spade patterns.

Trick Or Treating Tips:

Don't go to strange neighborhoods Watch both ways before crossing streets Carry a flashlight, make sure there are fresh batteries. Wear light color clothing Wear light up necklace or something Always stay with friends-Never go alone Have your parents check your treats before you can eat them.  Make sure to check candy and make sure there are no things your child is allergic to. Plan a route so parents know where their older kids will be at all times. Set a time for their return home.  Make sure your children are old enough to go out on their own. Let your child know not to cut through back alleys and fields.  Stay on well light areas Instruct your child not to go into people's houses or cars. Always walk, never run. Stay on sidewalks. Go to the bathroom before you start trick or treating. Make sure their costumes don't drag on the ground. Carry flexible knifes, swords, spears or wands in case your child trips. Wear comfortable shoes Visit houses that have lights on. Because one car stops, doesn't mean the others will Don't cut across people's lawn because there maybe things you can trip over or  a hole to fall in.  Don't pet animals you know or don't know Always be polite.  Remember to say, "Thank You". Always carry a couple spear bags, in case one breaks and/or gets to heavy. Don't eat all those treats at once Make sure to clear your yard of things that children can trip over.  Put a bucket or something over things that are in the ground like sprinklers so the kid's don't trip over. Try to put pets up if handing out treats. Make sure your yard is well-lighted Never leave a candle unattended Try using battery operated candles.

Educational Learning For Toddlers: Week Eight

New Words For This Week Are: Or, See, Hat

Combine these three new words with: Cat, Dog, My, Bat, Log, Sat, On, Mom, Dad, Tree, The, Up, And, Big, Boat, Down, Sun, Love, Fall, Mat

Child's First Book

1. Make sure to add three new sentences to your Child's First Book.
2. For the word Or, I wrote: My mom/My mom and I/My mom and I went Trick or Treating.
3. For the word See, I wrote: I see/ I see a big tree/I see a big tree with a bat in it.
4. For the word Hat, I wrote: The cat/ The cat on the mat/ The cat on the mat sat on my hat

When your child is reading their book to you or anyone else, make sure not to just tell your child the words.  Have them spell it out, to see if they can get the word and/or see if they can pronounce it out.

Index Card Project:

1. Write the words Or, See, Hat on index cards.
2. On the other side glue a picture of that word or have them draw a picture.
3. You should have a nice pile of words now.
4. How is your child doing on their words?  If they are struggling with any words, work on those words more than the rest.  Ask them out of the blue, "Hey do you remember how to spell.....?

 Key-chain Index Cards:

• Don't forget to add these 3 new words to your key-chain cards.
• Are you remembering to use these while shopping.

Go Fish Game:

• Remember to add their words to their Go Fish Game.  

Little Foam Books:

• After adding the words to your new little foam books, your child will have 8 books to practice in now.
• How is your child doing?

Bean Bag Color Toss:

• Supplies Needed: Different Colored Construction Paper, Masking Tape, Bean Bags

1. Use a strip of tap to create a line across the kitchen floor and tape pieces of colored construction paper to the floor about 3 inches away from the line.  
2. Select a color and challenge your child to hit the corresponding paper target with a beanbag.  If you say," Three red squares," your child keeps tossing until he lands a beanbag on the red square three times.  
3. If you want you can add different shapes too instead of just using squares.

Letter Scramble

• Supplies Needed: Marker, 26 colored index cards, paper lunch bag

1. Write your child's name on the outside of a paper lunch bag. Print one letter of the alphabet on each index cards.  Toss the deck of index cards lightly into the air, scattering the cards on the floor in an open area of the room.
2. Once the cards are scattered, your child hunts for letters he recognizes.  For starters, challenge them to search for the first letter of their name.  If they know a few letters of the alphabet, ask them to find the letters they recognize, bring them to you, and tell you the letter printed on the card.  Each time your child correctly identifies a letter, they place the letter in their paper bag. 
3. Could also do this with words too.
4. Expand this game a bit so that your child announces the letter and tells you a word or name that starts with this letter.

Color Coins:

• Supplies Needed: Purse, Red, White and Blue Poker Chips

1. Hide about 15 poker chips around the room, with half of each chip in plain sight.
2. Give your child an old purse or wallet and let them search for all the "red" poker chips you have scattered around the room or hidden in plain sight.  
3. They will place the chips they find in their purse or wallet.
4. Have them find each color in turn.

Sponge-Blob With Numbers:

• Supplies Needed: Large Bucket, 2 Giant Sponges, Sidewalk Chalk

1. Draw a big square and divide it into 9 smaller squares.  In each square write a number from 1-9. 
2. Have your child get their sponge wet and throw it onto a square.
3. Each time a sponge lands inside one of these boxes, keep score.

Halloween, Part 2: Week 8 October 25-October 31

This Is Another Week Of Halloween:

Skeleton Art:

• Supplies  Needed: White Styrofoam Peanuts, Construction Paper, Glue, Crayons

1. Place peanuts onto black or dark blue construction in shapes of skeletons.  One for the body, 2 arms, and 2 legs.  
2. Draw a face onto the skeleton.  
3. Your child can draw a background for their skeletons.  Like trees, clouds, full moon, grave yards.

Spider Suckers:

• Supplies Needed:Black Pipe Cleaners, Suckers(Tootsie Roll Suckers Work Best), Gogglie Eyes, Glue

1. Hold 4 pipe cleaners in your hand and center them to the base of the sucker.
2. Wrap the pipe cleaners around the sucker once to make four legs on each side.
3. Now bend the pipe cleaners to make the legs
4. Glue on the gogglie eyes.

Tissue Leaf Art:

• Supplies Needed: Foam Sheets(Red, Yellow, Orange), Tissue Paper, Ribbon, Glue

1. Cut out leaves out of the foam sheets.  Can use a leaf to trace, if you want.
2. Cut out one inch squares out of the tissue paper.  
3. Place a square on the table, place a pencil, eraser side down, and wrap the paper around the pencil.
4. Then take the wrapped paper in a little bit of glue and place it on a leaf.

Halloween Tic-Tac-Toe:

• Supplies Needed: Foam Sheets(Black, Orange, White, Purple), Yarn(Black Or Orange)

Spider-On-A-String:

• Supplies Needed: Egg Carton, Black Elastic String, Black Paint, Gogglie Eyes, Dowel, Black Pipe Cleaners

1. Cut out a cup of of the egg carton and paint it black, let it dry.
2. Poke a hole in the top middle of the egg cup.
3. Place a piece of black elastic string through the hole and tie a knot under the egg carton.
4. Cut the black pipe cleaners to make the eight legs of the spider and insert them into the spider, four on each side.
5. Glue on the eyes and let dry.

Halloween Straws:

• Supplies Needed: Pipe Cleaners, Halloween Foam Stickers, Red String

1. Punch two holes into each foam shape for the pipe cleaners to go through.

Ghost Footprint:

• Supplies Needed: Black Construction Paper, White Paint, Paper Plate, Blue Marker

1. Place your child's clean foot onto a paper plate filled with white paint.  Try not to get their toes.
2. Place their foot onto a black construction paper and press down. Let dry.
3. Draw on two eyes and a mouth.

Ghost Tree:

• Supplies Needed: Dark Construction Paper, White Paper, Glue, Markers

1. Trace your child's hand and arm up to the elbow on a piece of white paper.
2. Glue this onto a dark piece of paper.
3. Cut out spooky eyes, nose and mouth and glue them to your ghost tree.
4. You can draw on eyes, nose and mouth too.
5. Make a full moon with paper and glue.
6. Add whatever else your child may want to have on their picture.

Wiggle Eye Pumpkin:

• Supplies Needed: Orange Construction Paper, White Paper, Black Marker, Green Crayon

1. Cut out a pumpkin shape out of orange paper.
2. Color stem green.
3. Cut out eyes, nose and mouth.
4. Cut a slit on each side of the pumpkin across from the eyes.
5. Cut a white strip paper the size of the slits and about two inches longer on each side of the pumpkin.  
6. Slide the white paper through the slits under the pumpkin.
7. Where the eyes are draw the pupils of the eyes.
8. When you pull the white paper back and forth the eyes look like they are moving.

Halloween Book Marks

• Supplies Needed: Orange Foam Sheet, Halloween Shaped Foam Stickers, Hole Puncher, Ribbon

1. Cut out a book mark, however big your child would like it. Using scissors with different cutting shapes makes it look different.
2. Have your child decorate the bookmark with the stickers.
3. Punch a hole in the top of the bookmark and tie a ribbon through the hole.

Halloween Mobile:

• Supplies Needed: Foam Sheets(Yellow, Orange, White, Black), Black and Brown Markers, Wiggle Eyes(18), 58-inch Length of Black Satin Ribbon, Black Pom Pom, Hole Puncher, Glue

1. Cut out halloween shapes, like bats, pumpkins, witches, ghosts, 
2.  Cut out a big cat shape from the black foam piece.  The other pieces will be hanging from this cat. Glue a pom pom on for the nose.  Glue on eyes and mouth.
3. Punch holes in the cat(according to how many shapes you have) and shapes to hang black stain ribbon from.
4. Cut the black ribbon to the lengths you would like the shapes to hang from.

Pie Tin Tambourine:

• Supplies Needed: 2 Aluminum Pie Tins, Clean Pumpkin Seeds, Stapler, Stickers, Streamers

1. Staple steamers around edge of one of the pie tins
2. Place pumpkin seeds in a pie tin.  
3. Place another pie tin on top of the other pin tin.  And Staple shut.
4. Decorate with stickers.

Ghost Window Decorations:

• Supplies Needed: Glow-in-the-Dark Fabric Paint(Yellow, Blue), White Paper, Black Marker, Wax Paper, Black Fabric Paint

1. First sketch a design on a white piece of paper, then trace over the design with a black marker.
2. Lay a sheet of wax paper over the white paper and trace over the design with fabric paint.
3. When using several different colors, paint first with the color the covers the largest area.  Allow to dry throughly, then use black or blue paint for accent.
4. Make sure the paint is all smoothed together and all touching each other.
5. To mount the decorations, wet the front of the picture and press it against the window and press for several seconds.

Spider Web:

• Supplies Needed: Four Wooden Craft Picks, Ball of Thin String, Quick Drying White Glue, Black Paint, Fine Point Paintbrush

1. Make a cross with two picks and place a dab of glue where the picks intersect.
2. Place the two remaining picks diagonally across the cross, one pick over and the other under the cross.  Carefully tie the intersection of the craft picks with string and pull the knot tight.
3. Starting from the center of the cross, weave the spider's web in a spiral.  Each time you get to one of the picks, wrap the string around it before going on to the next pick.  
4. When you reach the outer edge of the web, wrap the string twice around the last pick and tie a knot.
5. Paint one side of the spider's web with acrylic paint, using a fine point brush.  Let it dry; then paint the other side the same way.

Halloween Straws:

• Supplies Needed: Sticky Foam Halloween Designs, Straws

1. Stick halloween foam designs onto straws.

Halloween Lantern:

• Supplies Needed: Plastic Bottle (with wide mouth like a gatorade bottle), Black Marker, Black Wire, Flashlight(small, flat), Nail, Pliers

1. Use the nail to make two holes opposite each other in the plastic.  The holes should be about 1/2 inch from the  top of the bottle.
2. Slip the wire through the holes to form the handle.  To hold the handle in place, fold the ends of the wire with the pliers. (If you want you can use yarn or thick string instead wire. 
3. Slip a small flashlight in the hole.  Please do not use a candle.
4. Use a black marker to draw eyes, a nose, and a mouth on the lantern.

Halloween Light:

• Supplies Needed: Big Plastic Soda Bottle, Kitchen Foil, Thin black cardboard, Silver Spray Paint, glue, Colored Cellophane, Shoelace or cord, Black Glitter and Sequins, Small Flashlight, Toothpick

1. Cut off the bottom half of a large plastic bottle-make sure this piece is taller than your flashlight.  Put a piece of kitchen foil in the bottom of the bottle to reflect the light.
2. Cut out a piece of black cardboard long enough to go around the bottle and about 1/2 inch taller.  Spray one side with silver spray paint.  The silver side will be the inner wall of the lantern and will reflect the light. Draw on spooky eyes, and cut them out.
3. Glue pieces of colored cellophane or candy wrappers over the cut-out eyes.
4. To make a lid, draw around the bottle onto black cardboard.  Cut out the circle, and spray one side silver.  Make a hole in the center using a toothpick, and push a piece of shoelace or cord through.  Tie a knot under the lid.
5. Glue the cardboard cover around the bottle-it will be slightly taller than the bottle at the top.  To decorate, dab on glue, and sprinkle on black glitter.  You can glue on sequins, too.
6. Place the flashlight upright in the lantern.  Scrunch up see-through cellophane, and push it around the handle of the flashlight so that it stands up.  Glue a shoelace around the inside of the cardboard at the top to make a rim for the lip.  Ask an adult to make two holes in the plastic sides of the lantern.  Thread a shoelace through to make a carrying handle. 

Trick or Treat Bag:

• Supplies Needed: Canvas Bag(found mine at Hobby Lobby), Glow in the Dark Fabric Paint, Paint(Black, Orange, Purple, Red), Halloween Stamps, Apples or Potatoes

1. Place an apple on the side, stem sideways, cut in half.  When you open it, you should see a star on each side.  Remove seeds.  
2. You can also cut a potato in half and carve out a 3-D stamp.
3. Dip the apple or potato stamp into the paint.
4. Place the stamp onto the canvas bag.  Be careful not to smear it.  You may want to experiment with the stamps on a sheet of paper to see how it works.
5. You may also use halloween stamps to decorate bag too.
6. Try using glitter glue on their bag too.
7. You may also match their bag to their costume too.

Spider:

• Supplies Needed: Black Foam Sheet, Black Pipe Cleaners, 8 Gogglie Eyes, Black Yarn, Hole Puncher

1. Cut out a circle out of the black foam sheet.
2. Punch 4 holes on each side. 
3. Place a pipe cleaner through each hole punches for legs.
4. Glue all eight eyes in a circle in the middle of the circle.  
5. Punch a hole in the top of the spider for hanging.  Use the black yarn for hanging.

Falling Leaves:

•  Supplies Needed: Leaves(Cut from Construction Paper-Fall Colors), Brown Construction Paper,Tape, Scissors

1. Draw a spiral circle onto the brown construction paper. And cut the spiral out.
2. Pull up the middle of the circle and see the design.
3. Tape on leaves onto the circle.
4. Punch a hole in the top of the circle for hanging.  Tie a piece of yarn or fishing line for hanging.
5. Hang from ceiling.

 Paper Plate Pumpkin:

• Supplies Needed: White Paper Plate, Orange Paint, Black and Green Construction Paper, Yarn

1. Paint a white paper plate orange and let dry.
2. Cut a mouth, eyes, nose and stem out of construction paper and glue.

Pumpkin Patch Memory Game:

• Supplies Needed: About 20 milk caps, Green Construction Paper, Brown and Green Marker, Orange Paint, Black Marker

1. Paint the 20 milk caps orange and let dry.  Draw lines down on the pumpkins.
2. On the other side of the milk caps draw different shapes(need two of each shape).
3. Place the orange caps onto a piece of green construction paper. Making 3 rows.
4. Now draw lines across to connect the pumpkins together, like a vine. 
5. Draw leaves on the vines. 
6. Have your child try to match the shapes like in a memory game.

Spider:

• Supplies Needed: Wooden Spool, Black Pipe Cleaners, Black Paint, 16 Black Beads, 2 gogglie eyes

1. Paint the wooden spool black. Let dry
2. Place 4 black pipe cleaners through the wooden spool.
3. Place 2 black beads onto each leg. Bend the legs of the spider.
4. Glue on the eyes of the spider and let dry.

Ghost Wind Chimes:

• Supplies Needed: Thick White Paper, White Yarn, 3 Bells, Hole Puncher

1. Cut out a ghost out of thick white paper. Make a ghost face.
2. Punch out 3 holes at the bottom of the ghost.
3. Cut out 3  6-inch yarn pieces(Let your child use a ruler for practice.)
4. Tie a piece of yarn to each hole.
5. String a bells through the bottom of each piece of yarn and tie.
6. Punch a hole in the top of the ghost to hang with yarn.

Paper Plate Mask:

• Supplies Needed: Empty Paper Towel or Gift Wrap Tube, Paper Plate, Paint, Construction Paper, Glue, Stapler, Scissors

1. Using the paper plate, cut out eyes, nose and a mouth for your child to look through and such.
2. Have your child pick an animal they would like to make, like a bear.  Then paint their plate to what matches their animal.  If its like a panda, they just need to make black ears from another plate and staple on.  Paint black circle around the eyes and nose.
3. Paint the empty tube whatever color.  For the panda, paint it black. Let dry.  Staple the tube onto the side of the paper plate, towards the bottom.  This will be handle for your child to hang onto when looking through the mask.
4. If its a lion you can punch holes at the top of the mask and tie yellow yarn for the mane.

Pumpkin Trick Or Treat Bucket:

• Supplies Needed: Empty Water Jug, Orange Paint, Scissors, Black Sticky Back Foam Pieces

1. Cut the top off the empty water jug. Don't cut the handle.
2. Paint the jug orange and let dry.
3. Cut out the eyes, nose and mouth from the black sticky back foam pieces and place on jug.

Halloween Plate

• Supplies Needed: Paper Plate, Halloween Shapes, Scissors, Yarn, Tape, Glue, Orange, Black and Green Paint or orange, black and green crayons, hole puncher.

1. Cut the middle of the plate out and keep middle for later.
2. Paint the ring orange. Let dry.
3. Cut out triangles for the eyes and nose.  Cut out the mouth too. Paint black. Let dry.
4. Cut out a stem, paint it green or color it and glue it to the top of the pumpkin.Let dry.
5. Punch a hole in the eyes, nose and 2 holes in the mouth for hanging. 
6. Figure out where you want to hang these and punch a hole in the top of the plate.
7. Connect the eyes, nose, and mouth with yarn.  Make sure to hang eyes higher than the nose, the nose higher than the mouth.
8. Punch a hole in the top of the plate for hanging.

Ghost Wind Sock:

• Supplies Needed: Empty TP Roll, White and Black Paint, White Yarn, Hole Puncher

1. Paint a empty tp roll white and let dry.
2. Draw a face of the ghost..
3. Punch holes at the bottom of the tube.  
4. Cut yarn about 12 inches long.  String yarn through the holes and tie
5. Punch 4 holes at the top of the ghost and string yarn through the holes and group all 4 strings together and tie in one bunch to hang up.

Activities:

Witch's Stew:

• Supplies Needed: Straws, Halloween Shapes made from construction paper(size of a yo-yo), Bowl

1. Place the shapes in a pile beside a small bowl.  
2. Using the straw as a vacuum, have your child try to pick up a shape and place it in the bowl to create the Witch's Stew.
3. If there is more than one child playing, you can time them to see who can do it fastest.

Pin the Face on the Pumpkin:

• Supplies Needed:White Poster Board, Orange Paint, Black Construction Paper, Tape, Blind Fold

1. Paint a big pumpkin onto the white poster board. Let dry and hang onto wall.
2. Cut out the face of the pumpkins; Eyes, Nose, and Mouth. Place tape on the face parts.
3. Blindfold your child. Spin them around once and hand them the mouth parts. Have them try to place the face onto the pumpkin.

Pumpkin Bean Bag Game:

• Supplies Needed:3 Sheets of Black and Orange Felt, Dried Beans, Yarn, Yarn Needle

1. Cut the black and orange felt pieces to the size of bean bag you would like.  Make sure to make 2 of each pieces.  
2. Sew up 75% of the bean bag, then add the dried beans and sew up the rest.

Spider Web Game:

• Supplies Needed: Ball of Black Yarn

1. This game is for a group of child.
2. Have your children sit in a circle. 
3. Hand a child the ball of black yarn.
4. Tell them to throw the ball to another child.  That child throws it to another child and they keep throwing it until they are out of yarn.  
5. Let your children see the web they made.

Balloon Race:

• Supplies Needed: Paper Plate, Balloon

1. Give your child a paper plate and a blown-up balloon.  
2. Have them try to race across to the finish line without losing their balloon.
3. Try using black and orange balloon to stay in the halloween seasons.

Balloon Broom Race:

• Supplies Needed: Broom, Balloon

1. Each child needs a broom and a blown-up ballon.
2. They start at the start line and then must sweep their ballon to the finish line.
3. Again, if you use orange and black ballons you can stay in the halloween season.  Also if you want your child can decorate their balloon before they race with black markers.

Pumpkin Game:

• Supplies Needed: Big Piece of Orange Construction Paper, Egg Carton, Cardboard, Yellow Paint, Green Paper

1. Glue a piece of green paper to a piece of cardboard.  Let dry. 
2. Cut out a big pumpkin out of orange paper. 
3. Cut out egg cups to make the eyes, nose and mouth.  Paint all Yellow and let dry. Glue the face upwards like a bowl. Write point values inside the cups. Like 5, 10, 15, 20.
4. Cut out a green stem and glue to pumpkin.
5. Place the pumpkin on the ground and try to throw things into the cups and get points.

Taffy Pull:

• Supplies Needed: 1 1/2 Cups Sugar, 3/4 Cup Light Corn Syrup, 2/3 Cup Water, 3/4 Teaspoon Salt, 1 teaspoon Vegetable Glycerin(sold at most party or natural food stores), 2 T. Butter, 2 teaspoons Lemon Juice, Candy Thermometer

1. In a large saucepan, stir together the sugar, corn syrup, water, salt, and glycerin with a wooden spoon. Cook over medium heat, stirring now and then until a candy thermometer reads 255 degrees.
2. Stir in the butter.  
3. Pour the mixture onto a greased flat pan and fold over the edges with a spatula to keep them from hardening.
4. When the candy is cool enough to handle, brush it with lemon juice.
5. Kids grease their hands with butter, take a lump of taffy, and pull and stretch it until it is light and slightly firm.
6. The longer they stretch, pull, and twist the candy, the more air it will have and the closer to beach taffy it will get.  
7. The lump can then be cut with scissors into bite-size pieces.  
8. When cool, wrap in waxed paper.
9. Makes 45 1-inch candies.

Food/Snacks:

• Cupcake Spiders: Cupcake, small candies, licorice
• Oreo Spiders: Oreos,  Licorice, M & M, Frosting
• Apple Dippers: Apples and Peanut Butter or Cheese
• Terrifying Twice Baked Mummies: 3 Baking Potatoes, 12 frozen cooked Italian-style meatballs(16oz Package), 1 Cup Tomato Pasta Sauce, 6 Slices Mozzarella Cheese, 12 Small Pimiento-Stuffed Olives, 1 dill pickle

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Wrap each potato in foil.  Bake about 1 hour or until fork-tender.  Let stand 10-15 minutes or until easy to handle.
2. Meanwhile, in 2-quart saucepan, cook meatballs and pasta sauce over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until meatballs are hot.
3. Cut each potato in half lengthwise.  With spoon, scoop out pulp from each potato, leaving 1/4-inch shell.  Discard pulp, or reserve for another use.
4. Place 2 meat balls and about 2 tablespoons sauce in each potato half; place on ungreased 15x10x1-inch pan. Cut cheese into 1/4-inch wide slices.  Arrange cheese slices over meatball filling crossing back and forth to completely cover and look like bandages; tuck ends inside potatoes.
5. Bake about 2 minutes or just until cheese softens; do not melt.  Place 2 olives on end of each potato to look like eyes; place 2 pickle pieces at opposite end to look like feet.

• Hot Dog Mummies: 1 Can(11oz) Pillsbury Refrigerated Breadsticks(12 Breadsticks), 12 Large Hot Dogs, Cooking Spray

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F. 
2. Unroll dough;separate at perforations into 12 breadsticks.  With a knife or kitchen scissors, cut each breadstick lengthwise and crosswise into 4 pieces, making a total of 48 pieces of dough.
3. Wrap 4 pieces of dough around each hot dog to look like "bandages," stretching dough slightly to completely cover hot dog.  About 1/2 inch from one end of each hot dog, separate "bandages" so hot dog shows through for "face".  Place wrapped hot dogs on ungreased large cookie sheet; spray dough lightly with cooking spray.
4. Bake 13 to 17 minutes or until dough is light golden brown and hot dogs are hot.  With mustard, draw features on "face."

• The Creepiest Salad Bar: 1 Cup Italian Dressing, 1/4 Cup ketchup, 8 Cups Spring Mix Lettuce Blend(weeds and grass), 1 Cup Green Bell Pepper (goblin fingers), 1/2 Cup Shelled Sunflower Seeds(witches teeth), 1 Cup Cherry Tomatoes(vampire eyeballs), 1 Cup Sliced Mushrooms(sliced toadstools), 1 Cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese(mummy's bandages), 1 Cup Broccoli Florets(ogre Curls)

1. In a small bowl, mix dressing and ketchup together for monster slime dressing.
2. Place salad ingredients in individual bowls to create salad bar.  (Make labels so your goblins know what is in the bowls.) Serve dressing with salad.

• Tasty Tombstones: 6 Large Baking Potatoes, 1/2 cup olive oil, 1 1/2 T. Paprika, 8 Slices Bacon, 2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese, 1 Cup Chopped Black Olives, 1 Cup Chopped Green Onions, 1 Cup Ketchup or Salsa, 1 Cup Sour Cream, Pastry Bag or Plastic Bag

1. Pierce potatoes in several places with fork.  Microwave on HIGH, about 2 minutes per potato.  Let cool 5 minutes.
2. Slice each potato in half lengthwise.  Heat olive oil in skillet over medium heat.  Add potato halves and cook until tender and lightly browned.  Remove from heat.  Cut each potato half in half lengthwise again to form 2 smaller tombstones, if desired.
3. Arrange bacon, cheese, olives, and onion in rows in 9x13-inch casserole to resemble paths through graveyard.  Place several potato tombstones upright randomly throughout dish.(Decorate, if desired.) Spoon ketchup or salsa at base of each potato.  Using pastry bag or disposable plastic bag with corner removed, pipe sour cream in ghost shapes throughout dish.  If desired,sprinkle chopped parsley throughout dish as grass.  Serve remaining potatoes in separate dish.
4. Makes 6 servings.

• Candy Corn Shots: 1 to 3 Tubes Decorating Gel(White, Yellow and/or Orange), Decorative Sugar Sprinkles(Yellow, Orange and White), 4 to 6 Clear Shot Glasses, 2 Large Scoops Orange Sherbet(about 1 Cup), 1 Cup Milk, 2 T Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate

1. Place decorative sprinkles in a small bowl.(You can mix colors together or keep them separate.)  Squeeze gel along rim of each glass and dip into sprinkles; set aside.
2. Place sherbet, milk, and orange juice concentrate in a blender; blend until smooth, about 1 minute.  Pour into prepared glasses.  Serve immediately.

• Witches' Brew: 2 Cups Apple Cider, 1 1/2 to 2 Cups Vanilla Ice Cream, 2 T Honey, 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg

1. Process cider, ice cream, honey, cinnamon and nutmeg in food processor or blender until smooth.  
2. Poor glasses and sprinkle with additional nutmeg.  Serve immediately.
3. Makes 4 (6-ounce) servings.

• Halloween Pizza Bites: Refrigerated Pizza Dough or Make Your Own Kit, Pizza Sauce, Mozzarella Cheese Slices, Halloween Cookie Cutters

1. Heat oven as directed on package.
2. Make your dough.  
3. Make some small round pizza, slice of a cheese slice.  
4. Top with pizza sauce.
5. Take halloween cookie cutter and cut out shapes out of the cheese slices.
6. Place cut out slices and place them on the pizza.  
7. Cook as directed or until dough is done.

• Spider on a Stick: Big Marshmallows, Pretzel Sticks, Chocolate Dipping, Red Frosting for Eyes, Skewers

1. Put marshmallow on a skewer and dip marshmallow into chocolate.
2. Take a marshmallow and put in 4 legs on each side for spider's legs.
3. Put red frosting on marshmallow for eyes.
