Child's First Book
  1. Make sure to add three new sentences to your Child's First Book.
  2. For the word Star: When you/When you wish/When you wish upon a Star.
  3. For the word Toy: Santa is/Santa is going to/Santa is going to give me a toy.
  4. For the word It: It is/It is going to/It is going to snow today.
When your child is reading their book to you or anyone else, make sure not to just tell your child the words.  Have them spell it out, to see if they can get the word and/or see if they can pronounce it out.
Index Card Project:
  1. Write the words Star, Toy, It on index cards.
  2. On the other side glue a picture of that word or have them draw a picture.
  3. You should have a nice pile of words now.
  4. Have your child make a sentence with the words.
 Key-chain Index Cards:
  • Don't forget to add these 3 new words to your key-chain cards.
  • Are you remembering to use these while shopping.
Go Fish Game:
  • Remember to add their words to their Go Fish Game.
Little Foam Books:
  • After adding the words to your new little foam books, your child will have 13 books to practice in now.
  • Where are all your child's foam books?
Christmas Shapes:
  • Have your child cut out different shapes out of construction paper.
  • Then have your child make something with the shapes that have to do with Christmas.
  • For a christmas tree you can use a triangle with a rectangle trunk.  You can make a reindeer face with a triangle and circles for the eyes and nose.  A rectangle for a sign that says Santa Stop Here!
Christmas Letter Match
  • Cut out Christmas pictures from magazines and such.  Like Santa, Toys, Reindeer, Elf, Snow, Star, Gift, Cards, Hat, Red, Green, Wreath
  • Glue nine pictures(3 across and 3 down), onto a piece of paper leaving room for writing the item under each picture, nice and big and spread apart. Make sure each paper doesn't have all the same items because the first to get 3 in a row wins.
  • Then on strips of paper, write the letters of each word onto a separate piece of paper. Fold paper up and place in a box or container.
  • Hand each child a picture paper.
  • Then draw out a letter and call it out.  If your child has the letter they have to cover up with a button, coin or round pieces of paper.
  • Then when your child has three words, with all the letters filled, they win.
Letter Search:
  • Give your child a magazine or newspaper and have them search for the letters A-Z.
  • Have them cut out each letter, make sure they find them in order, A-Z.
  • They can glue the letters onto a piece of paper.  Glue them down from the top of the page to the bottom.
  • They can now think of words that start with that letter and write it down, next to the letter.
