Bake/Cook/Make Day Saturday!

Bake/Cook/Make Day Saturday!
Royal (Icing) Sand Castle
What You Need:
  • Graham Crackers
  • X-Acto Knife
  • Cake Icing in 2 or 3 colors
  • Freezer Bags
  • 1 Box Sugar Ice Cream Cones
  • Fruit Roll-ups
  • Glue
  • Toothpick
  • Colored Sugar
  • Assorted Candies
How To Make:
  1. For each small building: Break 2 large graham crackers in half, making four 4x4 squares.  For tower: use 4 large graham crackers.  Grown-ups: with an X-Acto knife, carefully cut openings for windows.  Also cut another cracker into 12 small squares for roof decoration for each building.
  2. Make a pastry bag: Fill a freezer bag half-full with icing and cut a small hole in a corner of the bag.
  3. Create a building by making a box out of the graham cracker squares, using the icing as "glue": On each of the 4 squares, pipe icing on 3 edges.  Prop one squares on the unpiped edge: "attach" the next square perpendicular to it, pressing lightly so icing will stick.  Add other crackers on the sides to complete the box.
  4. Break another cracker to half.  Lay one of the halves on top of the box to create a roof.  Pipe icing in the center of the roof and set and ice cream cone on top of the icing.  Pipe icing around the cone and onto the roof's edges. Place 12 small squares in the icing, 3 per side.
  5. For the flags, cut out a triangle shape from fruit roll-ups.  Fold it around the toothpick.
  6. Put a blob of icing on top of the cone, place the flag in the icing.
  7. Decorate the castle and its grounds with assorted candies and colored sugar.  It's your royal kingdom, so you can use any kind of candy you want.
