Crafts:
  • Rainbow Mobile: Hanger, yarn, construction paper, scissors, plate, hole puncher, green paint or green crayons
  1. Cut out shamrocks out of green paper.  Punch a hole in the middle of the shamrocks.  Thread a piece of yarn through two shamrocks a piece.
  2. Paint the plate or color it green.  Let dry.
  3. Make a rainbow with colored paper. Glue them onto another piece of paper. Punch a hole in the top of the rainbow.  Put it through the hanger part of the hanger.
  4. Punch 4 holes around the plate.  Cut 4 pieces of yarn the same length.  Thread each piece of yarn through each hole.  Group the threads together and tie it into a knot.  Tie to the middle of the hanger on the straight part of the hanger.
  5. Take the shamrocks and tie one section on one side of the plate on the hanger and then tie the other shamrocks to the other side of the plate on the hanger.
  6. Tie a piece of yarn through the top of the hanger for hanging.
  7. You can set anything you want on the plate for decorations.
  • Shamrock Note Holder: Spring-type clothespin, green and white construction paper or felt, sponge, 1/2"-wide seasonal paint, green paint, glitter, scissors, glue, magnetic tape
  1. To make the note holder, glue a length of ribbon onto one side of the clothespin.
  2. If desired, glue glitter on the small shamrock.  Then glue that shamrock to the note holder.
  3. Attach a piece of magnetic tape to the other side of the note holder; then display it on a magnetic surface.
  4. Sponge-paint a few shamrocks on white paper.  When the glue is dry, cut out the shapes. Ask friends and adults to write special messages on your shamrocks.
  • Rainbow bottle cap art: Bottle caps, paint(rainbow colors), cardboard, glue, hole puncher, yarn
  1. Figure out how big your want your rainbow.  Arrange the bottle caps the way you want them.  Then paint the arches the right rainbow colors. Let paint dry.
  2. Glue the bottle caps onto a piece of cardboard and let it dry.
  3. Punch two holes in the top of rainbow picture for hanging up with yarn.
Activities:
  • Rainbow Tube Tower Puzzle: Paper towel cardboard tube, paint(rainbow colors), scissors
  1. Make a rainbow design all over the tubes.
  2. Carefully cut the "tower" into three or four pieces.  Lightly squeeze the tube to get your cuts started.  Jagged or slanted cuts are the easiest.  Your cuts need to be exact so the pieces will fit together.
  • Irish Jig: Lively music
  1. Hop on one foot, kicking the other foot out and across the hopping foot.  Bring your kicking foot back and reverse your feet to repeat the step.

  • Spell A Word Game:  Index cards, marker, straws, cardboard(cereal box), glue
  1. Cut the index cards up into squares.
  2. Then write a letter of the alphabet on each square.  Make three sets of them.  Glue the letters onto pieces of cardboard to make the cards thicker.

  5. Each player draws 5 cards.
  6. The youngest player goes first.
  7. You must try to spell out a word with the letters.  If you have a word just place the word down in front of you and draw more cards, you must always have 5 cards on your letter holder.  The next player goes.
  8. The game goes on until no more words can be spelled out.
  9. The one who spells out the most words wins.

  2. Place two cans side by side with 4 inches between them, or example, and the ball will be aimed between the cans.
  3. Other cans are placed alone in the center of the room, the idea being to send the ball in a circle around the can.
  4. Write a number on an index card corresponding to each can's intended order in the obstacle course.
  5. Place each numbered card on the ground near its can.
  6. Create a finish line by placing the plastic cup on its side and taping it to the carpet or floor.
