Easter Week: Tuesday

Easter Week
Tuesday
Crafts:
  • Box Baskets: Corrugated cardboard boxes, paints, fabric, toothpicks or craft sticks, cardboard, metal paper fasteners
  1. Cut off the top flaps, then paint the boxes or cover with fabric.  Add details, such as a fence made from toothpicks or craft sticks.
  2. Make a handle from cardboard.  Glue it on, or attach it with paper fasteners.
  3. More Ideas: Leave two flaps on top, if you wish to cover whatever's inside.  Fill a basket with gift items and use it as a present.
  • Funny Bunny Hangers: Five craft sticks, construction paper, markers, thin ribbon
  1. Glue three craft sticks together at the ends to form a square without a top.  Glue two craft sticks as crosspieces about 1 inch apart.
  2. Cut a bunny from construction paper.  Cut a grassy strip of green construction paper.  Cut two small Easter eggs from different-colored paper.
  3. Draw a face on your bunny, and decorate your eggs with markers.  Glue the grass strip to the bottom craft stick, then glue the bunny over the grass.  Add the eggs.
  4. Glue ribbon to the top fence posts.
  • Bunny Planter: Plastic laundry scoop, 2 wooden craft spoons(ears), 2 tiny black pom-poms(eyes), small black pom-pom(nose), 5 brown pom-poms(feet and tail), brown paint, glue, black permanent marker, paintbrush, soil, marigold seeds(or other flower seeds with a short germination period)
  1. Brown glue: to make glue paint, mix equal amounts of glue and brown paint.  Then add a few drops of dishwashing liquid(this helps the paint adhere to the plastic.)
  2. Paint one side of each craft spoon(ear).  Then paint the sides and handle of the laundry scoop.  Let the paint dry.
  3. Glue the wide end of each ear to the inside of the laundry scoop(planter). You can clothespins to hold the ears in place while the glue dries.
  4. Glue pom-pom eyes and a nose on the flat side of the planter.
  5. Glue a pom-pom tail on the handle; then glue two pom-pom feet on each side of the planter.
  6. After the glue dries, use the marker to draw whiskers, a mouth, and other details.
  7. Fill the planter with soil; then plant a few seeds in it.
Activities:
  • Plaster Eggs: Large plastic Easter eggs, water, spoons, petroleum jelly(such as Vaseline), Plaster of Paris, large bowls, tape, markers or tempera paint
  1. Cut off a small part of the bottom half of each plastic egg with a sharp knife or craft saw to make a hole.
  2. Rub the inside of the two halves of the plastic egg with petroleum jelly.
  3. Tape the two egg halves together after making sure they fit tightly.
  4. Following the directions on the box, mix the plaster of Paris with water in a large bowl.
  5. Quickly pour the wet plaster in the hole in their eggs using spoons (small pitchers and funnels may be helpful).  After the eggs are filled with plaster tap the eggs to remove any air bubbles and place the eggs upright in an egg carton to dry and harden.
  6. When the plaster of Paris is completely hard remove the tape and open the two halves of the plastic egg to reveal the plaster egg.
  7. Decorate the eggs with markers or paint.
  8. The decorated eggs can be used for an Easter egg hunt or as paper weights.
  • Egg-Shaped Card: Construction paper, scissors, glitter, glue, markers, sequins, anything to use as decorations
  1. Fold over a sheet of construction paper from each end so the ends meet in the center of the paper.  Round off the corners to form an egg.  Now you have an egg-shaped card that opens in the middle!
  2. While the card is closed, decorate the outside to look like an Easter egg.  Then open up the card and color an Easter scene on the inside center.
  3. Write your message or greeting on either of the inside flaps.
