Wacky Wednesday: Magic Day!


Wacky Wednesdays are a little break in the week, geared away from the weekly theme.  It lets the children have a little added fun. Your kids will love it when you say "Hey, guess what tomorrow is?  It's Wacky Wednesday!" Remember to have fun yourself. 

  • Magic Tricks:3 Different Magic Card Tricks at Dollar Tree
  • Finger Traps
  • Magic Wands:Dowel, Black and Gold(Sprinkle) Paint
  • Magicians Outfit: White Gloves, Black Cape and Black Top Hat(Black Construction Paper, Paper Plate, Black Paint, Stars, Gold Glitter Glue): Make a Cone out of black paper, and tape/glue it.  Then paint a plate black, let dry. Cut 3 slits and bend the bottom of the cone, so you can staple it onto the hat.  Decorate the hat with stars and gold glitter glue.
  • Rabbit Sandwiches:Rabbit Cookie Cutter, Bread, Meat, Cheese
  • Magic Food Wands:Hot Dogs/ Chicken Fingers/ Fish Sticks and French Fries
  • Magic Changing MilkMilk, Something to add to milk like Strawberry syrup, Magic Changing Powder
  • Cheetos(change your mouth colors)
  • Magic Pretzel WandsPretzel Rods and Chocolate and Vanilla Frosting, Sprinkles: Dip rod ends into frosting then into sprinkles.
  • Bunny Shaped Chocolates and/or Gummies
  • Magic Beans:Different Flavored Jelly Beans
  • Jack and The Beanstalk Story (Book and/or Movie)
  • Bean Soup: Dried Navy Beans or 15 Bean Soup Mix, Chopped Ham(Recipe on Back of Bean Bag) and Cornbread muffin mix.
  • Magic Bean Art Work:15 Bean Soup for Art Work, Construction Paper, or Cardboard, Glue 
  • Magic Bean Game: Bertie Botts Every Flavor Jelly Beans(found at Kmart, Walgreens): Have your child close their eyes and give them a bean and see if they can figure out the flavor.
  • Magic Balloon Trick: Ballons, Tape, Needle: Have a couple balloons blown up for this trick.  Ahead of time put a piece of tape onto the ballon, make sure nobody can see the tape.  Then take a needle into a plain balloon and it will pop.  You can do it one more time or have your child try it out.  Then with the tape ballon, put the needle into the tape and it shouldn't pop.
  • Magic Treasure Hunt:Sheets of White Paper, Jelly Beans, Plastic Bag, Black Marker, Mirror, White Crayon, Blue Marker, Empty Shoe Box, Container: On sheets of paper write down clues to where the next clue is.  You can write the clue backwards and you need a mirror to read it, write the clue in a code like 1= A, 2= B, and so on, Write a message on a piece of white paper with a white crayon, they have to use a black marker or crayon to color over the hidden message. In the finish have a prize in a shoe box like a deck of magic cards.
  • Magic Art Work: Crayons(Black and Others), White Sheet of Paper, Penny: Have your child color a white piece of paper, cover the whole thing.  Then color over the art work with a black crayon, cover the whole thing.  Then with a penny, have your child scratch off designs.
  • Magic Hat Game: Deck of Cards, Black Magic Hat: Place a hat in the middle of the floor. Give your child some cards and have them try to throw the cards into the hat.

  • Watch Harry Potter Movies, Disney's Sword and The Stone
  • Disappearing Thumb Trick
  • Where is the pom-pom game? 3 Plastic Cups, Pom Pom: Place a pom pom under a cup and move the cups around and see if your child can guess which cup has the pom pom under it.
  • Black Magic Hat, Rabbit
  • Box Of Crayons Trick: Box of crayons: Have your child pick out a crayon out of the box, with your eyes closed.  Have them hand you the crayon, your eyes still closed, tell them you can tell what the color is by hanging on to it.  Take your nail and try to scrap some of the crayon under your nail.  Then have your child place the crayon back in the box.  When you open your eyes, check your nail for the color your child had.

  • Play guess which hand it is in.  Have your child hide a small object in one of their hands and try to guess which hand.  
  • Remember to use words like hocus pocus, shazam, abracadabra
  • Try building a card tower

  • Magic Playing Card Treats 
    Ingredients
    (Makes 8 Treats)
    8 (4 section) graham crackers
    1 1/4 cups Pillsbury® Creamy Supreme® Vanilla Frosting
    10 drops red food color
    1/4 cup Pillsbury® Creamy Supreme® Chocolate Fudge Frosting
    Directions 
    1. Remove 1 section from each graham cracker; reserve single sections for another use. Frost graham crackers with 1 cup of the vanilla frosting.
    2. Place remaining 1/4 cup vanilla frosting in small resealable plastic bag; seal bag. Add red food color; squeeze bag until well blended. Cut off 1 bottom corner of bag to form small hole. Squeeze bag to pipe frosting onto 4 graham crackers in heart and diamond patterns.
    3. Place chocolate frosting in another small resealable plastic bag; seal bag. Cut off 1 bottom corner of bag to form small hole. Squeeze bag to pipe frosting onto remaining 4 graham crackers in club and spade patterns.
