Wacky Wednesday: Royal Family


Wacky Wednesday: Royal Family





Crowns:
Supplies Needed: Burger King Hats, Jewels, Glue, Construction Paper or Foam Crown
  1. Where the Burger King sign is on the crown, cover this with a circle of construction paper.
  2. Let your child decorate their crown with glitter glue, jewels, or whatever they wish.
Swords:


Supplies Needed: Cardboard, Foil, Jewels, Glue
  1. Cut a sword out of the cardboard piece.
  2. Cover the sword with foil.
  3. Let your child decorate their sword.
Shields:
Supplies Needed: Cardboard, Foil, Stapler
  1. Draw a big oval circle out of cardboard for their shield.
  2. Cut out a little handle for the back of the shield out of cardboard.
  3. Staple the handle in the middle of the circle.
  4. Cover the shield with foil.
  5. Your child can glue a royal crest on the front of the shield. 

Dress-Up


Supplies Needed: Royal Dress-Up Clothes, Make-Up, Curling Iron
  1. Curl your daughter's hair and put make up on her.
  2. They can put on a dress, and wear dress shoes or your dress shoes.  Let them wear jewelry like rings, bracelets, necklaces.
  3. For boys, they can wear a suit, wear dress shoes or their dad's shoes. They can wear a royal king's ring too. If you can have them wear a royal robe.

Royal Scepter: 


Supplies Needed: Paper Towel Tube, Foil, Tape, Newspaper
  1. Roll some newspaper into a ball and place on top of paper towel tube.
  2. Then, hold it in place with foil.  Foil the whole thing.
  3. Next,  have your child decorate their scepter.  They can use jewels, ribbons, stickers, foam pieces

Mirror:


Supplies Needed: Cardboard, Foil, Paper Towel Tube, Construction Paper, Jewels, Glue, Puff Paint, double sided sticky tape
  1. Cut out an oval shape out of the cardboard. 
  2. Cover tube with construction paper, let glue dry.
  3. Cut slits across from each other on the tube to fit into top part.
  4. Put glue onto the slits and slide up onto main part.  If you want secure with tape or stapler.  
  5. Cut out an oval out of foil, small enough to fit into center of mirror. Use double sided sticky tape to secure.
  6. Cut out an oval piece from construction paper to fit over the top part.  Cut out a smaller oval piece so your child can use the foil part for their mirror. Use tape again.
  7. Cut out another oval piece for the back of the part of the mirror and tape on.
  8. Let your child decorate their mirror now.
Carriage Ride:
  • You and your child can go on a real carriage ride if you live in a big city.
  • If not, you can pretend to go on a carriage ride.  Just set up a chair in front and two in back.  
Foam Art Work:
Supplies Needed: Foam Craft Sheets, Foam Prince and Princess, Glitter
  • Let your child use their imaginations when doing this project.
  • They can make a royal scene using Foam pieces and decorations.
  • They can even make a sign for their room or a door knob decoration.
Jewelry:


Supplies Needed: Beads, Yarn, Buttons, Pipe Cleaners
  1. Cut a piece a yarn for your child for a necklace, bracelet, anklet.
  2. Let them string beads onto the yarn.  Tie when done.
  3. Cut 2 pipe cleaner the same size, a little bigger than your child's finger or wrist.
  4. Put a pipe cleaner into one hole and out the other.  Do the same for the other hole, if you have 4 holes.  Wrap the ring or bracelet around their finger or arm.
Royal Tea Party:


Supplies Needed: Tea Set, Fruits, Cake, Veggies, Dip, Toothpicks, Crackers, Cheese, Little Sandwiches, Croissant Rolls in tubes, Hot Dogs, Prince and Princess Gummies
  1. Set the table with a nice table cloth. 
  2. Set up a Tea set on a nice serving tray.
  3. On other trays, lay out the fruits, veggies and dip, crackers and cheese, little sandwiches
  4. Open a tube of croissant rolls and wrap them around the hot dogs.  Cook as directed on tubes.  Place on a tray when cooled.
  5. You can have juice, tea, or lemonade for drinks.
  6. Pretend to be at a fancy dining place.
Buried Treasure:


Supplies Needed: Uncooked Rice, Play Rings, Bandana
  1. Place gold play rings in a bowl of uncooked rice.
  2. Place a bandana over the eyes of the child playing.
  3. Have your child hunt for buried treasure.
Treasure Box:


Supplies Needed: Treasure Box(Hobby Lobby has wooden or cardboard ones), Paint, Jewels, Glitter, Glue, Jewels, For boy decorations:  try anchors, skulls, pirates items, gold coins.
  1. Let your child decorate their treasure box, they can paint it, put jewels, glitter and foam shapes on their box.
  2. Place gold coins inside their treasure box.  Use can even use the chocolate gold coins found at Walgreens in candy section.

Cardboard Castle:





Supplies Needed: Big Cardboard Box, Markers, Scissors, Yarn, Paint, Glitter Glue, Stamps, Foam Stickers, Red Wrapping Paper or Red Construction Paper
  1. The picture above is not the castle I made for my daughter.  Hers was taller and bigger.  I wanted to use this picture for an example.  This picture was from the website www.enchantedlearning.com
  2. I spray painted my child's castle to make it look like bricks. Make sure to do this outside.
  3. With the open top part of the box, cut out squares on top, like a castle has.
  4. They need to pick a side for the draw bridge.  Cut out a curved like door, make sure to leave it attached at bottom. 
  5. On the inside, by the sides of the door.  Poke a hole on each side. 
  6. Poke a hole on each side of the door too.
  7. Cut two pieces of yarn, the same size for the drawbridge.  Poke the yarn, on one side, through each hole and tie in place. Do same with other side.
  8. Now your child can go on the inside of the castle and pull the strings to pull up the door.
  9. Your child can now decorate their castle. 
  10. On the inside, place down the red wrapping paper or construction paper for a red carpet.  You can even put it on the draw bridge too. Use tape or glue to hold it down.  We used clear duct tape to tape the whole floor, so it would last.
  11. They can place a royal chair inside or just sit on the floor.  
  12. If the box is big enough, you can set up a little bed inside for your child.
  13. When their castle is all done, make sure to take pictures of your royal highness inside all dressed up.

How Many?


Supplies Needed: Jar, Dried Peas
  1. Place a bag of dried peas into a clear container with a lid. Make sure to count the peas as you place them into the jar.
  2. Have your try to guess how many peas are in the jar.
  3. When your done with the peas, you can make pea soup.

Star Wand:


Supplies Needed: Wooden Dowels, Sticky Foam Sheets, Ribbon, Glitter, Paint
  1. Have your child paint their wooden dowel. Let Dry.
  2. Draw a star on the foam sheets.  Cut out and draw another one using this star pattern.
  3. Take the sticky side off of one star and stick it to the dowel.  
  4. Stick some ribbon onto the bottom of this star.
  5. Then, take off the sticky side off the other side and match it up to the other star and stick them together.  Sticky side to sticky side.  
  6. Next, have your child decorate their star with glitter.

Poisoned Apple Game:


Supplies Needed: Apples, Music
  1. Give a child an apple and play some music.
  2. They must pass the apple around and try not to get stuck with it.
  3. When the music stops, the one holding the apple must take a bite of the poisoned apple and pretend to fall asleep until the end of the game.
  4. Give another apple to a child and play again.  
  5. Repeat until one person is left and they are the winners.
  6. The child can eat their apples as a snack. 
Treasure Map:


Supplies Needed: Brown Grocery Bag or Construction Paper, Marker, Yarn, Lighter
  1. Cut a map out of the grocery bag or paper
  2. Have your child draw things like a body of water, trees, land, and X marks the spot.  
  3. An adult, can carefully burn the edges to make the map look old.  Please be careful not to start a fire.
  4. Roll up the map and tie a piece of yarn around it to keep it rolled up.
Wishing Well:
Supplies Needed: 6 Buckets Or Pails, 6 Ping Pong Balls
  • This is just like the Bozo Game except, your child will be throwing coins(balls) into wishing wells to make wishes like Snow White.

Balancing Act:


Supplies Needed: Book
  • Have your child place a book onto their head and try to walk straight without dropping it.

Wizard Potion:


Supplies Needed: Bubbles
  • Let your child pretend they can do magic with their wizard potion.

Magic Carpet Ride:


Supplies Needed: Small Carpet or Pillow Case
  • Place a Carpet Square or Pillow Case onto the floor and tell your child that they are going to go on a magic carpet ride to see other countries like Aladdin did.

Dragon Eggs:
Supplies Needed: Easter Eggs
  • Hide Dragon Eggs around the house or outside and tell your child that you need dragon eggs for a meal or potion.
  • They must be careful not to run into a pretend dragon.
  • They can use their swords and shields they made to defend themselves.
Hidden Treasures:
Supplies Needed: Sandbox, Jewels, Hidden Treasures
  • Hide jewels and hidden treasures in your child's sandbox.
  • Tell your child they are going on a treasure hunt and let them dig for treasure.
  • They can use their treasure map for this if they want to pretend.
Magic Wand:
Supplies Needed: Wooden Dowel, Paint, Glue, Feathers, Yarn, Beads
  1. Have your child paint their dowel. Let dry.
  2. Next, glue feathers on the top of the dowel.  
  3. Tie yarn around the feathers to help hold the feathers in place.
  4. Place beads onto the yarn.  Stick feathers, with glue on the end, into the beads.
  5. They can glue a bead on top of the dowel too.
  6. Add glitter or stickers to wand.
  7. Another option:  Paint wand black, let dry.  Then paint top part gold. Let dry. Can add glitter to gold to let it sparkle.
Royal Freeze Dance 
  • Put on some music and let your children dance.
  • Stop the music while they are dancing and when the music stops, your children must freeze in position when the music stopped.
Jester
  • Have your child do funny things in front of you to make you laugh.  
  • They can wear a Jesters hat.  You can make one by filling up 4 socks with socks,napkins or newspapers, something else.  Safety pin the socks onto a winter hat.
Lost Glass Slipper
  • Show your child a pair of shoes. Then have them go into another room, while you hide one of the shoes.
  • Have your child come back into the room and tell them you lost a glass slipper and you need help finding it.
  • When they find the glass slipper, it's their turn hide the slipper.
  • Disney Movies Like: Beauty and The Beast, Snow White, Cinderella, Little Mermaid, Sword and The Stone, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, Tinker Belle
