Bake/Cook/Make Day Saturday!

Bake/Cook/Make Day Saturday
Saturdays are set aside to spend some quality, fun time in the kitchen with your child.

Snowman Treats:
  • 9 pieces candy corn
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup creamy peanut buttery
  • 34 round butter-flavored crackers or oreos
  • 12 ounces white candy coating, coarsely chopped
  • 34 miniature chocolate chips
  • 34 milk chocolate M&M's
  • Licorice pieces or assorted colors of decorating gel
  1. Remove the yellow ends from candy corn.  Cut each candy in half length wise; set aside.
  2. Spread peanut butter over half of the crackers; top with remaining crackers to make sandwiches.  Or just use oreo cookies.
  3. In a microwave, melt candy coating; stir until smooth.  Dip sandwiches in chocolate; allow excess to drip off.  Place on waxed paper.
  4. Immediately position chocolate chips for eyes and mouths and add a reserved candy corn half for the nose.  For earmuffs, place an M&M on either side of face, connected with a piece of licorice or a strip of decorating gel.  Let stand for 30 minutes or until set.
Buttery Almond Cookies:
They look like little snowballs!
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar, divided
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup chopped almonds
  1. In a small bowl, cream the butter and 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar.  Add flour and vanilla; mix well. Stir in the almonds.  Shape into 1-in. balls.
  2. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 13-16 minutes or until the bottoms are golden brown and cookies are set.  Cool for 1-2 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.  Roll in remaining confectioners' sugar.
