Educational Learning For Toddlers: Week Nine




New Words For This Week Are: Rat, Moon, Car

Combine these three new words with: Cat, Dog, My, Bat, Log, Sat, On, Mom, Dad, Tree, The, Up, And, Big, Boat, Down, Sun, Love, Fall, Mat, Or, See, Hat

Child's First Book
  1. Make sure to add three new sentences to your Child's First Book.
  2. For the word RatI wrote: A big/ A big cat chased a/A big cat chased a rat under a car.
  3. For the word MoonI wrote: I saw/ I saw the moon/I saw the moon in the sky.
  4. For the word Car, I wrote: My mom/ My mom and I sat in the car/My mom and I sat in the car and watched the sun go down.
When your child is reading their book to you or anyone else, make sure not to just tell your child the words.  Have them spell it out, to see if they can get the word and/or see if they can pronounce it out.
Index Card Project:
  1. Write the words Rat, Moon, Car on index cards.
  2. On the other side glue a picture of that word or have them draw a picture.
  3. You should have a nice pile of words now.
  4. Have your child make a sentence with the words.
 Key-chain Index Cards:
  • Don't forget to add these 3 new words to your key-chain cards.
  • Are you remembering to use these while shopping.
Go Fish Game:
  • Remember to add their words to their Go Fish Game.  
Little Foam Books:
  • After adding the words to your new little foam books, your child will have 9 books to practice in now.
  • How is your child doing?
Child's Dictionary:
  • Supplies Needed: Pictures of things from A to Z.  3 Ring Binder, Copy Paper, Hole Puncher, Glue or Tape
  1. Punch holes in paper that line up with holes in ring binder.
  2. Place all A pictures together, may have to use more than one paper.  Make sure you leave room for the name of picture and definition.
  3. Right under the picture write the name of the picture.  Underneath that write a simple definition of the word.
  4. Do this with all the other alphabets.
  5. Insert the papers into the 3 ring binder.  
  6. Write on the front of binder with black marker.

  • Make words with alphabets and glue the words onto a piece of paper.  Could have them draw a picture of the word underneath it.
  • Draw words in sand and see if your child can read it.
  • Write one of the words, with your finger, on your child's back and see if they can guess the word.
  • Make letters and words with stick pretzels.
