Wacky Wednesday: Race Day!


Wacky Wednesday:
Race Day!




Race Cars and Trucks:

  • Supplies Needed: Construction Paper, Glue
  1. Cut out different shapes like squares, triangles, circles, rectangles.
  2. Make a race car or truck from the shapes and glue them onto a piece of paper.
Race Track:
  • Supplies Needed:Poster Board, Construction Paper, Cardboard, Glue, Markers, Crayons

  1. Draw a race track on a poster board.
  2. Use the construction paper to make the stands and people.
  3. Can also use the green for grass.

Wooden Race Cars:
  • Supplies Needed: Wooden Cars, Paint(Hobby Lobby)
  • Have your child paint their wooden car just like their driver or color.


TP Roll Race Car:
  • Supplies Needed: Empty TP Roll, Buttons, Construction Paper, Glue

  1. Decorate the body of the car with the paper or paint.
  2. Glue buttons on the sides for the wheels.

Flag:
  • Supplies Needed: Black and White Construction Paper, Dowel, glue

  1. Take a piece of white construction and glue black squares onto the white paper to make a checkered flag.
  2. Wrap one end of the paper around the  glued dowel to make a flag.

Foam Flag Placemat:
  • Supplies Needed: Black and White Foam Craft, Glue

  1. Mark off 1" from both ends of the 12" x 18" craft foam sheet and cut a lengthwise slit every inch being careful to end slits at the 1" mark.  
  2. Cut black foam into 1" x 12' strips.
  3. Weave strips in through the slits.
  4. Secure ends with glue or glue dots.

Car Race:
  • Supplies Needed: Match Box Cars

  1. Have your child and yourself or another child push their car and see how gets the farthest.

Race car Box:
  • Supplies Needed: Cardboard Box, Construction Paper, Crayons, Markers, Glue, Paper Plate

  1. Have your child decorate their very own race car box.
  2. Can use a paper plate for the wheel.

Race Day Flags:
  • Supplies Needed: Yellow, Green and Red Felt, 3 Dowels

  1. Place the felt pieces vertical.  
  2. Place some glue on one end of the felt piece.  Wrap a dowel around to make a flag.

Race Car Drawings:
  • Supplies Needed: Blank Papers, Crayons or Markers

  1. Have your child draw a race car and maybe their favorite driver.

Tissue Box Race Car:
  • Supplies Needed: Empty Tissue Box, Black Foam, Paint, Glue, Construction Paper

  1. Paint an empty tissue box to make it into a race car
  2. Make tires out of black foam and glue on.
  3. Decorate the race car.
  4. Can use a barbie or action figure for the race car driver.

Tire Bean Bag Toss:
  • Supplies Needed:Big Piece of Cardboard, Black Paint, Bean Bags, Yarn, Hole Puncher

  1. Make a Big circle out of a piece of cardboard.  
  2. Paint it black.  
  3. Punch a hole in the top and thread a piece of yarn through the hole for hanging.
  4. Hang the tire up  from a tree or tape it in the middle of a doorway or hang from ceiling.
  5. Have your child throw bean bags through the tire and see how many they get.

Inter-tube Race:
  • Supplies Needed: Large Inter-tubes

  1. Each child gets an inter-tube.
  2. Have a starting line and a finish line.
  3. Each child has to roll the tube from start to finish.

  • Pull Back Cars for racing

Stop Sign:

  • Supplies Needed: Red, Yellow, Black, Green Construction Paper, Glue

  1. Cut out a circle out of the red, yellow and green construction paper.
  2. Glue the circles onto the black paper; First red, then yellow and finally green.


Race Car Sun Catcher:

  • Supplies Needed: Race Car SunCatchers and Paint

  1. Have your child paint their sun catchers and let dry.
  2. Hang up or give as a gift.

Monster Truck:
  • Supplies Needed: Construction Paper, Small Cake Plates, Glue

  1. Glue 2 paper plates onto a piece of paper for the wheels.
  2. Use construction paper to make the body of the truck, lights, etc. and glue into place.

Button Race Car:
  • Supplies Needed: Construction Paper, Glitter, Glue, Foam Numbers and Letters, Buttons, Paint

  1. Draw a race car onto a piece of paper.  
  2. Have your child glue button on the paper to decorate their car.  Use clear ones for the windows.
  3. Glue letters or names onto the buttons to make it a nascar.
  4. Put glue onto some on the buttons to add glitter to them for some sparkle.
  5. Your child can paint a background like the sky or grass.

Candy Race Car:

  • Supplies Needed: Pack of Bubble Gum, 4 red and white round Christmas candies, hersheys kisses, glue dots

  1. The pack of gum is the body of the car.
  2. The 4 pieces of red and white candies are the tires.
  3. The kisses are the driver and passenger

Food:
  • Circle shaped foods(tires): Oreos, Striped Cookies, Nilla Wafers
  • Car Shaped Gummies
  • Green Gatorade(Antifreeze)
