Wacky Wednesday: If you give a: Mouse a cookie, Pig a Party, Cat a cupcake, Mouse a muffin




Wacky Wednesday:
If you give a:
Mouse a cookie 
Pig a party
Cat a cupcake
Mouse a muffin
Take a mouse to school






Kohl's has some of these hard cover books for $5 a piece.  Plus, they also have very nice stuffies that go with them.  They have the mouse, moose, cat and pig for $5 also.

If you give a pig a party book:


Centerpiece:
  • Supplies Needed: Newspaper, scissors, yellow construction paper, yellow paint, empty tp roll, cardboard, glue, scissors
  1. Take some newspaper and divide it into 3 sets with about 3 sections each. 
  2. Lay the 3 sections of newspaper on top of each other only about 1/2 on each section.
  3. Roll the newspaper up and tape together. 
  4. Cut down the sides to make strips like shown in the book.  
  5. Cut stars out of yellow construction paper and glue them to the strips.
  6. Paint an empty tp roll yellow and let dry.
  7. Cut the cardboard into a square.
  8.  Cut three slits into the bottom on the tp roll.  Pull the slits down, so they lay flat enough to glue onto the cardboard piece or staple onto the cardboard.
  9. Place the newspaper tree into the cardboard stand. 
Party Hat:
  • Supplies Needed: Construction paper, elastic string, decorations like glitter, beads, sequins

  2. Decorate your hat with glitter, beads and sequins
Bumper Cars:


  • Supplies Needed:Empty box your child can sit in for a car, blue and yellow paint, black marker, empty wrapping paper tube, tape

  1. Take an empty box and paint it blue and yellow. Let it dry.
  2. While its drying.  Paint an empty wrapping paper tube blue and yellow. Let dry.
  3. Tape the tube to the inside of the box for the pole of bumper car.
  4. Make squares with the number 4 just like in the book.
Game:
  • Supplies Needed: Cardboard, 6 bottle-caps, glue, marble or coin
  1. Paint or color the piece of cardboard gray
  2. Glue 6 bottle-caps randomly on a piece of cardboard.  
  3. With a permeant black marker write the numbers 1-6 inside the caps
  4. Try to get the marble or coin into the caps.
  • Eat an ice cream cone
  • Go for a bicycle ride
  • Play a game of hide and seek
  • Make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches 
  • Have a pretend or real slumber party with blankets and pillows
  • Have a pillow fight
  • Make a fort with blankets(take a portable dvd player under the fort and watch a pig movie like charlotte's web.
  • Blow up some balloons and let them fly across the room.
If you give a mouse a cookie book:





Pom Pom Mouse and Bed:
  • Supplies Needed: Little empty box or container, piece of fabric, cotton balls, large pom pom, medium pom pom, 2 small pom poms, 1 very small pom pom, yarn, 2 googlie eyes

  1. Glue a medium pom pom on top of a large pom pom.  Let dry.
  2. Glue 2 small pom poms for the ears.
  3. Glue the goolie eyes on.
  4. Glue the very small pom pom on for the nose.
  5. Glue a piece of yarn on for the tail.
  6. Paint an empty box and decorate it.  Let it dry.
  7. Take some cotton balls and stretch them a little and glue them in the bottom of the box.
  8. Cover the box with a piece of fabric for the blanket.
  9. Give the mouse a nap in his new bed.


Draw a picture:
  • Supplies Needed: Blank piece of paper, crayons, tape, pen

  1. Have your child draw a picture
  2. Sign his name with a pen
  3. Hang on the fridge
  • Eat a cookie and drink a glass of milk with a straw. Make your own chocolate chip cookies.
  • Look in the mirror and look at their milk mustache.
  • Let your child sweep and mop the house.
  • Make some cookies with your child.  
Peanut Butter Munches:
  • Supplies Needed: 1 cup peanut butter (creamy or crunchy), 1 cup sugar, 1 egg
  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Mix well.
  2. Using your hands, roll the dough into one-inch balls and drop onto a lightly greased cookie sheet.
  3. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.  Press the tines of a fork into each cookie while still soft.
  4. Recipe found in 4 book combo of "If you give a mouse a cookie series."


If you give a pig a pancake book:

Pig Pom Pom:
  • Supplies Needed: 2 medium pink  pom poms, 7 small pink pom poms, 2 very small black pom poms, 2 googlie eyes,  1 pink pipe cleaner

  1. Glue 2 medium pom pom together.  Let dry.
  2. Glue the small pink pom poms for the arms, legs, and ears, one for the nose.
  3. Glue 2 small black pom pom onto the nose pom pom for the nostrils of the pig.
  4. Glue the googlie eyes on.
  5. Cut a pink pipe cleaner and twist it for the tail of the pig and glue it on.
  • Make pancakes and serve with syrup.
  • Take a bubble bath with rubber duck.
  • Tape a button under each shoe for tap shoes.
  • Play dress up.
  • Play on a piano or organ and dance.
  • Take time to take pictures.  Remember to let your child take some too.
  • Let your child write a letter and mail it to a friend.

Popsicle Tree House:
  • Supplies Needed: Piece of cardboard, blank paper, glue, popsicle sticks, paint

  1. Have your child glue pieces of popsicle sticks onto a piece of paper in the shape of a house for their fort or however they wish. Let dry.
  2. Then let your child paint and decorate their fort.
Pig Plate:
  • Supplies Needed: Paper plate, egg carton cup, pink paint, pink construction paper, black marker


  1. Paint a paper plate and egg carton cup pink and let dry.
  2. Next, glue the egg carton on the paper plate for the nose.
  3. Cut out ears out of pink construction paper and glue it to the plate.
  4. Use the black marker to draw eyes, mouth and nostrils of the pig.
Pigs in a blanket:
  • Supplies Needed: Hot dogs, crescent rolls
  1. Preheat oven to what it says on the crescent roll container.
  2. Wrap the hotdogs up in a one triangle crescent roll.
  3. Cook for 10-12 minutes.

If you give a Moose a Muffin:





  • Make some muffins.
  • Eat a muffin with blackberry jam.
Moose sweater:
  • Supplies Needed: Piece of red felt, needle, red thread, buttons

  1. Cut a shirt(sweater) out of a piece of red felt.
  2. Sew a couple buttons onto the red felt or glue the button on if your child is too small to use a needle.
  3. Decorate the sweater if your child wants too.


Moose Red Sweater, 2
  • Supplies Needed: Piece of red plastic canvas, plastic needle, red yarn, buttons

  1. Cut a shirt(Sweater) shape out of a piece of plastic canvas.
  2. Have your child take the needle and yarn and sew up a sweater with the canvas.
  3. When they finish they can sew a couple buttons onto their sweater.


Sock Puppets:
  • Supplies Needed: Old socks(gray and brown), needle, thread, buttons, gray, brown, tan,  pink felt, gray yarn, pipe cleaner, 4 googlie eyes, needle and thread, small pink pom pom, medium size tan pom poms and 2 small brown pom poms.
Mouse puppet:


  1. Start with the gray sock.
  2. Cut out round ears out the of gray felt and cut out arms.
  3. Cut out smaller pink round circles to glue inside the gray circles. Let dry.
  4. Sew the arms and ears onto the mouse.
  5. Glue the eyes on.  
  6. Cut out a tail with gray yarn and glue it on.
  7. Glue a small pink pom pom for the nose
  8. Also cut out the whiskers out of the gray yarn and glue them on.
Moose Puppet:
  1. Brown sock.
  2. Cut out arms out of the brown felt. Sew in place.
  3. Cut out 4 antlers out of gray felt. Glue a piece of pipe cleaner in between 2 pieces of antlers, to help make it stiffer.  Let dry. Then sew in place.
  4. Glue a tan pom pom for the nose and then glue 2 small brown pom poms for the nostrils.
  5. Glue on the googlie eyes.
Cardboard Background:


  • Supplies Needed: 2 boxes cardboard, paint, newspapers


  1. Place newspapers down on the ground and let your child decorate boxes that have been flattened out for their background for their puppet show.
  2. Have a puppet show with their puppets they just made.


If you take a mouse to school:

  • Pretend to go to school you will need a notebook, pencils, backpack, lunchbox or bag
  • Pack a lunch
  • Go to a park for an outing
  • Practice doing some math and spelling
  • Do a science experiment
Explode a Messy Volcano:
  • Supplies Needed: An empty juice, or water or soda bottle (volcano), decorations, baking soda and white vinegar


  1. If you want you can decorate your bottle before you start experiment.
  2. First pour about half a cup of baking soda into the bottle.
  3. Then, keeping your head away from the top of the bottle, start pouring the vinegar into the bottle until your volcano explodes.
  4. I would suggest you do this outside.

  • Make some furniture out of Clay for their mouse.
  • Make a mouse house out of Building Blocks
  • Play Soccer and Basketball
Make a book:
  • Supplies Needed: Piece of 8 x 10 foam craft, card stock, hole puncher, yarn

  1. Fold a piece of foam craft in half and cut.
  2. Fold card stock paper in half.  
  3. Place the foam craft on top and bottom of the card stock for the covers.
  4. Punch 3 holes down the side.  
  5. Cut 3 pieces of yarn to thread through the holes and tie off.
  6. Have your child write a story.

  • Have some Popcorn for a snack.
Mouse Art:
  • Supplies Needed: Brown, pink, yellow and white construction paper, markers, yarn, 2 gogglie eyes


  1. Cut out a triangle out of brown construction paper.
  2. Cut out 2 big circles out of pink paper for ears.
  3. Cut out a small circle for the nose.
  4. Glue the triangle(head of mouse) onto the piece of yellow construction paper.
  5. Then glue the ears and nose on.
  6. Cut pieces of yarn for the whiskers and glue onto the head.
  7. Glue on gogglie eyes.
  8. Your child can draw anything they want for their background.



If you give a cat a cupcake:




  • Make cupcakes, decorate with sprinkles
  • Go to the beach or swimming pool(indoor or outdoor), if you can't make your own, beach towel, beach ball, bucket, shovel, play with moon sand, swimsuit
Shell Art:
  • Supplies Needed: Cardboard, construction paper, seashells, glue

  1. Glue a piece of blue or tan construction paper onto piece of cardboard.  
  2. Glue seashells all over the paper like on a beach.
  3. You can glue salt or sand onto the paper to, to make it like a beach.
  • Do some exercises with your child. Like jumping jacks, touch your toes, jump on one foot, sit-ups, push-ups, running in place, jumping in place, etc.
  • Use a robe to pretend like you are taking karate class.
Cardboard Row Boat:
  • Supplies Needed: Cardboard box, 2 empty wrapping paper tubes, piece of cardboard, markers or crayons

  1. Decorate a cardboard box for the row boat.
  2. Cut two piece of cardboard out for the oars ends.  
  3. Cut out a slit and the end of each paper tube.  Decorate tubes if you want.
  4. Slide the cardboard pieces into the slits and glue into place.
