  3. For the word FunI wrote: The kids/The kids were all playing/The kids were all playing bat and ball
  4. For the word Book, I wrote:My mom/My mom read me/My mom read me a good book.
When your child is reading their book to you or anyone else, make sure not to just tell your child the words.  Have them spell it out, to see if they can get the word and/or see if they can pronounce it out.
Index Card Project:
  1. Write the words All, Fun, Book on index cards.
  2. On the other side glue a picture of that word or have them draw a picture.
  3. You should have a nice pile of words now.
  4. Have your child make a sentence with the words.
 Key-chain Index Cards:
  • Don't forget to add these 3 new words to your key-chain cards.
  • Are you remembering to use these while shopping.
Go Fish Game:
  • Remember to add their words to their Go Fish Game.
Little Foam Books:
  • After adding the words to your new little foam books, your child will have 11 books to practice in now.
  • Do your kids need new books for their older words?
Alphabet Book:
  • Supplies Needed: Craft foam sheet, Card stock, yarn, pictures from magazines
  1. Make a book like your child's first book(make sure it has enough pages to cover the alphabet(26 letters)
  2. Find or draw a picture of things that start with the alphabet from A to Z. For example A=Ant, B=Butter, C=Cat, etc.
  3. Then paste each picture from A to Z on their separate pages, starting with A and ending with Z.
  4. Then have your child makeup a sentence for each picture.  For example: An ANT climbed up the tree.
Word Coloring:
  • Take a coloring page and write some of your child's words they know in the empty slots of the pictures. Bigger pictures work best, less detailed the better for little ones.
  • Then have a word coloring code.  Like all the spots that have the word Hat are colored red, all the spots that have the word Cat are colored blue and so on.

Word Search:
  • Make your child their own word search puzzle. Click Here.
  • Use the words that your child has been learning and place them into the word search

Fill-in-the-blanks:
  • Write sentences using  the words your child knows and leave that word out of the sentence.
  • Place all the words that are missing at the top of the page.
  • Have your child try to fill the blanks in with the right words.
Rhyming Words:
  • Write words these main words down in columns: Fox, Frog, Lock, Dot, Mop
  • Then write these words down on a separate piece of paper: Clock, Shop, Clog, Sock, Pot, Jog, Block, Top, Pox, Hop, Spot, Cot, Lox, Dog
  • Have your child pick the words that rhyme together and write them in the right column.
  • If you can think of any others go ahead and write them down too.
